As many know, there are significant challenges in higher education. President Hemphill and his faculty and staff will not allow themselves to get comfortable as they look ahead. They are working to make sure Old Dominion is well prepared for what may come next: highlighting ODU’s unique regional footprint, 35+ years of distance learning experience and “playing to the strengths of the institution.”
President Hemphill held leadership positions at Radford University, West Virginia State University, Northern Illinois University, University of Arkansas, University of North Carolina Wilmington, and Cornell College. He has earned degrees from Saint Augustine’s University, Iowa State University of Science and Technology, and a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa.
